As a family Doctor I usually get asked this question by a well person in their mid 40’s. Timing is an interesting problem. If you have a family history of heart disease, especially in the middle years, then you may have already had over 20 years of untreated or managed risk factors and much of the damage might have been done.
The simple answer to the question is – TODAY! A preventative health screen will often highlight areas that you should consider at any age. For example an overweight teenager (check your BMI and know your risks) might have a family history of thyroid problems and actually have a treatable metabolic problem. This is just one example of the many outcomes edoc.net has helped with.
