‘Lazy eye’ effects between 2 & 4 children in every 100. If detected before school and treated then significant improvement can be made to vision. If not treated the eye fails to develop the neural pathway and vision is reduced. The medical term is ‘Amblyopia’ and screening for this condition is recommended between the ages of 3 and 5 years.
Vision is not just seeing, it is about orientating to your world. Two working eyes are better than one – you have better depth perception and better peripheral vision. Talk to your Doctor about how screening is done and when you should have your child tested.
