Heart Disease in Women

Women’s heart disease risk is rising as the risk for men decreases.
Experts say that greater recognition of heart disease risk factors among women is needed, as they continue to experience a higher relative cardiovascular mortality in mid life.

A US study found myocardial infarction (heart attack) prevalence had increased among mid-life women (aged 35 to 54 years) over the past two decades, a period in which its prevalence had declined among similarly aged men.
What are the risk factors? High blood pressure, smoking and elevated Cholesterol are the big three.
